Brunei swimmers head to Shanghai

Christian Nikles, 13, and Anderson Lim, 15, from International School Brunei (ISB) and Jerudong International School (JIS) departed to Shanghai yesterday for a swimming meet at the Shanghai World Championship 2011.

The two fastest swimmers in the country had participated in several swim meets locally and internationally but the Shanghai meet will be their most significant, said Eric Landa, the Brunei National Swimming Coach who accompanied the youths to Shanghai.

“It will be particularly exciting to them as the game will be broadcasted to more than three billion people worldwide. The stadium itself, where the meet will be held can accommodate a total of 18,000 audience,” Eric Landa told the Bulletin at the Brunei International Airport yesterday.

A total of 181 countries were scheduled to take part in the international championship.

Also accompanying the team was the team manager, Nelson Chock.
